The current senior company staff includes five accredited level III personnel covering all of the commonly used NDT methods. Between them, the professional members of staff at NDT Consultants Ltd. can count almost 100 years of experience. The companies has an impressive client base from major aerospace companies such as Rolls-Royce, Ministry of Defence, Westland Helicopter, Dowty, Allied Signal Aerospace to mention but a few.
The introduction of the new radiographic inspection technology has a huge potential and will create a significant market advantage for the SMEs concerned. As NDT Consultants Ltd. have acted as an SME on other EU funded NDT development contracts they have a wealth of direct experience to help the SMEs in this proposal capitalise on the opportunities that will arise.
Reasons for participating
NDT Consultants are not a business consultancy company, they are a supplier of advanced NDT systems and NDT services to the
aerospace and power generation markets. They see that the move from film to digital radiography will open a market potential for them
particularly in the high precision casting market place for aerospace.
Contribution to project
Their main contribution will be in the development of detailed digital radiographic inspection procedures WP-D) and technician training
material i.e. course syllabus, training notes and examination format and specimen questions. In order to be able to prepare
'this applications' driven documentation NDT Consultants will have significant input into most of the project workpackages
including WP-A, design of specimens including details of defects that are most difficult to detect, WP-B, preparation of a
functional specification for the X-ray hardware and X-ray detection detectors, WP-C, determining the functional specification for
the effect of the radiographic variables, WP-D, specifying the technique parameters and supervising the film, digital and radiation
backscatter trials, WP-E, input into the automated defect recognition software in terms of its applicability to site conditions and
WP-G, Digital Radiographic Qualification criteria.
